Baby Watch

I am 37 weeks and 3 days. I didn't really think I would be pregnant this long! I am not sure why? Emily was only 8 days early. I wake up every morning now, disappointed that I am still pregnant. I am still hoping that I will have an August baby. I want it to have it's own birth month. Brian has September, and Emily has October. It still has 10 days to accomplish this goal. Everything is ready so it can come anytime.

Something Old is Looking New

I really wanted to get something new for our new arrival, but it was hard to justify, as I have saved all of my stuff (clothes, baby gear, everything) from my previous two kids. We have an infant carseat from when Emily was a baby, and it is just fine, although the headrest never stayed in place, and the sun shade never stayed up, even when we tried to rig it with Velcro. But still I couldn't bring myself to buy new one. So I started to look at alternatives. I discovered several websites where I could buy a carseat cover. However, most of those were for gender specific; Pink or Blue. I also found a couple of places that would make a custom order, you could even send fabric. So I picked out the fabric, in a gender neutral color, and my mom engineered the transaction (read: she paid) I even got a matching blanket, and "lovie". It is perfect. Just what I think the baby needs, so it feels special.

Emily Goes to School

Emily started school today. She is attending the Gymboree School Skills Program. It is 2 days a week from 9-2. She is already so independent, and really enjoys learning, playing, and interacting with kids her age. Here she will learn about art, sports, science, music, and handwriting. She was so excited to attend school today, just like her big brother.

I will be able to have 2 days without the big kids to work at the office, run errands, and have time with the new baby.

First Day of School

Today was Brian's first day of "real" school. After much contemplation, we decided to enroll him in the Little Rock Public School District. He is attending Fair Park Early Childhood Center. It is a model facility for pre-kindergarten students. There are 9 classrooms of Pre-K 4 year olds. Each class has 20 students and 2 teachers. Brian is in Kriz Kids with Mrs. Lori Kriz, and Mrs. Debbie Odom. He is in school 5 days/week from 7:30-2:30. They eat lunch in the cafeteria, attend PE and Music, go to the library, and play on the playground. All of this is in addition to the normal curriculum designed to prepare them for Kindergarten, and "playing" in activity centers. They wear a uniform, blue or khaki pants/shorts, with a yellow, red or light blue polo shirt. On Friday they can wear the school t-shirt with jeans.

I don't know whether I am excited or sad that my almost 5 year old is going to school all day everyday. I guess a little of both. I know I have prepared him well for this transition. He did great! Of course his favorite part of the day was playing outside.
