Single Parenting Day 3

The kids are still alive. Yesterday we slept in a little bit, headed downtown to pick up our milk, visited with the neighbors, had a little lunch and then headed to the zoo for the rest of the afternoon.

Emily was a little bit afraid of them flying and landing on her head while her back was turned so I could take a picture. Danielle was not too fond of them flying around at all.

I have not gotten very much sleep the past couple of nights. My kids do not make very good roommates. Brian's allergies have been terrible at night, even after a dose of benadryl. He snores, talks in his sleep, gets up to blow his nose, wiggles, and wets the bed. Emily cries in her sleep, wakes up and needs her stuffed animals, wakes up and needs a drink, wakes up and has to go pee. The baby has slept great! Can't wait for things to be back to normal tonight.

In other news, I got up on Sunday morning, showered (even washed my hair) got myself ready, made a real breakfast (pancakes vs. Pilsbury cinnamon rolls), got the kids ready, (dressed, hair done, faces washed) and got to church on time. Why can't we do that when there are two parents present? Danielle took her normal Sunday morning nap, but woke up halfway through Sunday School, so I decided to take her down to the nursery. I checked on her once, and when I picked her up she was all smiles, and had a great time.

I can't wait until 8:30 tonight. Let the countdown begin.

When The Cat's Away

I took Eddie to the airport today. He is flying to Denver to attend a seminar to learn a new adjusting technique. I am a widow all weekend, so you know what they say...When the Cat's away, the Mice will play.

Friday after school, the kids and I came home and grabbed the bikes and headed over to Kevin and Katie's new place. We got the grand tour of their town home and complex, with a clubhouse and pool. The kids played with the boys, rode bikes, walked dogs, and practiced fishing in the grass. It is a gated complex with lots of kids, so it is very kid friendly, except for the hills. Danielle skinned both of her knees learning about hills. It was a little scary for mom to watch how much faster the kids could ride their bikes or scooters down the hill. I am glad for our flat, boring cul-de-sac.

Later that evening we went to Chi Zi's to have "Gourmet" pizza with Jenna and our combined now SEVEN children. People must think we are a little crazy! While, there I received a text from Eddie, with a picture of this:

Crusin' Along

Danielle was outside with all the big kids riding the little red car. This car has served two children well, and this year it is Danielle's turn.

In other news, the humidity won today, and we turned on the air conditioner.

He Is Risen

My plan to celebrate "Spring" with bunnies and eggs was foiled this past week. Emily came home from school to let me know that the Easter Bunny must have come to our house on the wrong day, since he had not yet been to her friends houses yet. Whoops! Then today the neighbors grandchildren were hunting eggs.

So we took the time to explain that we had already celebrated "Spring" and today was about Jesus and his life, death and resurrection. We let them watch "The Lamb of God."

Yesterday...I spent most of the day preparing our taxes. I took a break for awhile and we went and watched the "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3D. It was cute, but 3D movies are expensive $10.25 each, and that was for an afternoon show. Now Brian would like a pet dragon.

The other thing that arrived today and is here to stay until mid-October...The Humidity! I love living in the South.

Tooth Fairy Pillow

The pillow I ordered in anticipation of Brian losing his first tooth arrived eariler this week, now is all we need is a tooth.

The pillow came with this cute letter from the Tooth Fairy.

I picked up Brian early from school for the second day in a row due to itchy, swollen eyes from all the tree pollen.

Today he was still sitting in the nurses office, and I noticed a cute poster on the wall where kids could fill in their name on the month if they lost a tooth at school. What a fun idea.

What We've Been Up To

This past week was Spring Break, and my mom was in town, so here is a recap of our happenings.

Thursday: Mom arrives, make Eddie birthday dinner and Martha Stewart Strawberry Cupcakes, they didn't turn out too well.

Friday: Shopping with kids, spring clean-up in the yard and prepping for the yard projects.

Saturday: Work in the yard day.

Sunday: Church, rest and fun things with the kids. We colored Easter eggs, and made Easter sugar cookies. Jenna had her new baby Friday evening, so I went up to Baptist to visit her.

Here are some the eggs we made, I keep forgetting to take pictures of our sugar cookie creations, maybe that is because we eat them so fast.

Monday: Emily gymnastics class, and a little more shopping.

Tuesday: Take Brian to school and then carpool duty to Mega Gymnastics, visit Williams Magnet School, plant shopping, lunch at Panera Bread, finish up yard projects, plant seeds with the kids, mulch.

Wednesday: Planting flowers at Brian's school.

Thursday: Garvan Woodland Gardens--Tulip Festival, a quick lunch and then mom off to airport. Enjoy all the pictures, I couldn't decide on just one...or two.
